Security along Burkina Faso’s main roads has entered a new phase. On October 14, 2026, Security Minister Mahamadou Sana presided over the official launch of a high-security control and surveillance checkpoint. The facility is located on the RN3 bypass road, in the direction of Kaya.
Unlike an ordinary roadside checkpoint, this facility is designed to provide stronger security measures. It is intended to combine specialized equipment with trained personnel to respond to serious threats along a strategic transport route. The RN3 connects Ouagadougou with the northern regions of the country.
Furthermore, the road to Kaya is considered a sensitive corridor. It is regularly used by local residents, commercial convoys and public transport vehicles. Protecting this route is therefore important for both public safety and economic activity across the region.
The minister’s presence at the launch ceremony also highlights the government’s focus on road security. Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, the authorities are presenting the new checkpoint as part of their broader efforts to strengthen security and regain control of national territory.
The launch marks another step in the country’s strategy to improve surveillance along key transport routes and protect the people who depend on them.
