Burkina Faso: Popular Revolution Promotes Transparency, Patriotism and Public Accountability

Ouagadougou recently hosted a major public event focused on national sovereignty, transparency and citizen participation. The first Government Exhibition, held from October 2 to 9, 2026, at the International Handicrafts Fair, concluded with strong public participation.

The event formed part of the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC). During the exhibition, government institutions presented their work directly to citizens.

Furthermore, the gathering showcased the achievements of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and promoted a new approach to governance.

Minister of Communication Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo represented Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo at the event. According to the article, approximately 200,000 visitors attended the exhibition. They explored 3,500 square metres of exhibition space, including 28 ministerial stands and 140 spaces dedicated to promoting local products and initiatives.

Moreover, the “Dialogue with the People” initiative became one of the exhibition’s main highlights. Government members presented their achievements, challenges and future plans while answering questions from citizens. The initiative aimed to strengthen public trust through direct exchanges between officials and the population.

In addition, the authorities offered free services, including healthcare and assistance with obtaining identity documents. These services provided practical support to visitors while reinforcing the event’s focus on citizen participation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Digital Transition and the Ministry of War and Patriotic Defence received recognition for their participation. The Prime Minister also called on citizens to support domestic production and consumption. The message emphasized that buying and consuming Burkinabè products should contribute to the country’s economic independence.

Finally, the government intends to make the exhibition an annual event and extend it to other regions. The initiative seeks to maintain dialogue between public institutions and citizens while encouraging patriotism, transparency and the promotion of local products.
